The Helldivers 2 7.1.0 patch delivers a wide selection of gameplay changes that touch almost every stage of an operation. Arrowhead Game Studios has responded to community feedback with improvements to enemy behavior, statistics, reinforcement mechanics, mission design, and equipment balance. For players working toward Helldivers 2 Medals, the update provides several practical improvements while also making certain defensive missions considerably more active.

Statistics and Reinforcement Problems Are Fixed
Career tracking has been updated so kills achieved through mines, vehicles, drones, and backpacks are now correctly recorded. This gives players more accurate career statistics and ensures that different combat approaches receive proper recognition.

Another important fix concerns reinforcement states. Under rare poor-network conditions, a Helldiver could become unable to return to combat even after another player used a reinforcement stratagem or the entire squad died. Version 7.1.0 removes this problematic state, reducing the likelihood of a player being locked out of the mission because of a synchronization issue.

Environmental Visuals Receive a Refresh
Bug infestation zones have received visual changes designed to better match their surrounding planet and biome. Areas around bug outposts and objectives should now look more distinct from one world to another. Fog and visual effects have also been adjusted to improve visibility in these locations.

These changes are not intended for the most heavily infested environments. Areas inside the Gloom and Hive Worlds retain their stronger infestation presentation. The result is a clearer distinction between ordinary bug-controlled areas and locations with much heavier environmental corruption.

Enemy Pressure Becomes More Dynamic
Enemy spawning has been redesigned around pressure rather than simply relying on the total enemy population. The system now considers both enemy count and distance from the squad. This helps address situations where players could travel into an outpost with very little opposition despite the overall enemy population already being high somewhere else.

When the global enemy count reaches its performance limit and players remain under relatively low pressure, enemies are now preferably spawned closer to the squad. When the enemy population exceeds its available budget, distant enemies can be removed. This should create encounters that feel more connected to where players are actually fighting.

Evacuation Missions Receive a Major Overhaul
Evacuate High-Value Assets missions have been made more intense through several simultaneous changes. The maximum number of waves has increased, and the time between waves has been shortened. At the beginning of a mission, the interval drops from 60 seconds to 42 seconds. Near the end, it falls from 40 seconds to 28 seconds. The maximum post-wave downtime is reduced from 10 seconds to just 2 seconds.

Enemy numbers per wave have increased, and encounter points now scale more aggressively with mission progression. Having more players can also increase encounter points. SEAF troops may appear in supported situations, while Shrieker spawning has been adjusted.

Randomized Loot Adds More Variety
The mission's level design has been modified so loot and weapon locations are randomized. Three possible loot groups can provide combinations of ammunition, health kits, grenades, and weapons. Ten common samples have also been distributed throughout the mission, giving squads another resource objective during defensive operations.

Generator health is now displayed through dedicated mission UI, showing the percentage for each generator. This makes it easier to identify which defensive target needs attention without relying solely on visual inspection.

Weapons and Stratagems Get Targeted Changes
The AR/GL-21 One-Two now starts with three units instead of two, carries five spare units instead of three, and receives five refills instead of three. The LAS-13 Trident has its vertical climb recoil reduced from 12 to 2, while the G/40 Melta Mine can no longer attach directly to characters and vehicles. Instead, it arms according to a timer after being thrown unless it attaches to terrain.

Orbital Precision Strike now has an 80-second cooldown rather than 90 seconds. Together with the other changes, these adjustments give squads more options when building loadouts. Players preparing for upcoming operations may also want to track Helldivers 2 Super Credits alongside their normal mission resources.
